A Day at the Pool

I actually did a background because I was passionate to do so. I bet you almost thought I wasn't capable of it. LOL

Alright, this picture's a favorite too because of how it turned out and just the plain explination for it! Here's the story bit - mind you, it's short.

She should be here soon, he thought while he sat on a lawn chair. Sheldon had been patiently watching the gates for his best friend to meet him at the pool for less than ten minutes, but his smile never faded as the time passed. He knew Cathie - she'd never pass up an opportunity to meet him for a day of fun unless something serious came up.

"It's only a matter of time," he reminded himself, applying some more sunscreen onto his arms and face. He was wearing a pair of dark blue sunglasses and regular blue swim trunks that had little orange fish on them. One of the fish on his right leg was yellow, showing that it was him and how he stood out from the rest. It was the only reason he'd ever picked these trunks to begin with.

Finally he saw Cathie pass through the gate and make her way across the cement, wearing her pink towel over herself and a pair light brown sunglasses. Sheldon laid back on his chair, waiting until she was in the chair next to him before he got up.

"Hi, Sheldon," she said with a smile. He saluted her in return and watched as she unveiled herself. Underneath the pink towel, she was wearing a two-piece bathing suit that was mainly blue with some purple on the straps, a stripe below her breasts, and the short skirt-like ruffles lining her bottom part.
Sheldon gawked, lowering his glasses to see her figure in more natural lighting.

"I've never seen you in a two-piece before..." he managed to say after a minute. Then he put the shades down when she did and she replaced them with her normal glasses. He stood up while she fidgeted in front of him, blushing when she saw his expression looking the way it did.

"My mom thought I should start wearing one because everyone else has and she used to wear two-pieces at my age," Cathie explained with her arms at her sides, "she said I might like having a few in my wardrobe."

Her mom must be a genius to know Cathie would look like this! Sheldon thought suddenly. He tried thinking of something else, but his mind was focused on his friend and there wasn't much he could do about it.

"I feel rather exposed in this, Sheldon!" Cathei giggled, tensing up her shoulders subconciously. She always did that when she was nervous.

"You think you're too exposed?" he blurted out. Instantly the boy's face was pink and he covered his mouth with both hands, hoping he hadn't made her even less comfartable than she already was. Then he looked around to see if anyone had heard him, but one of the girls on the other side of the pool had caught his attention, sparking an idea.

"If you think you're showing too much, then check her out, Cathie," he remarked, pointing nonchalantly at someone. The girl followed the direction he was pointing at and her eyes widened when she saw one of the lesser seen popular girls wearing a black string bikini.

"Suddenly I feel like I'm covering everything that needs to be covered..."she said quietly, relaxing her shoulders. Sheldon beamed when she thanked him for boosting her confidence and approached the water's edge.

"It's nothing, Cathie," he replied, stealing a glance towards her again, "now how about we get in the pool?"
